Park Woo-hyuk, Seo Geon-woo (Korea National Sport University),

Lee Da-bin, and Kim Jan-di (Samsung S-1) defeated the Taiwanese team (Zoo Yi-rui, Li Meng-en, Rosa) in the quarterfinals of the Taekwondo sparring mixed team event held at the Lin’an Sports and Culture Exhibition Center in Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province, China on the 25th. As a result, Korean athletes who reached the semifinals received at least a bronze medal.

In the Asian Games Taekwondo, bronze medals are awarded to all teams that lose in the semifinals rather than holding a match for 3rd or 4th place.

The mixed team event, which was introduced for the first time in the Asian Games, involves four people,

two men and two women, forming a team and competing in a one-on-one format.

Entry criteria are based on body weight.

The combined weight of two men must not exceed 160 kg,

the combined weight of two women must not exceed 135 kg.

Rounds

The first round lasts 4 minutes, and the second and third rounds last 3 minutes each.

In the first round, four players change for one minute each,

in the second and third rounds, players change frequently.

However, only players of the same gender compete against each other.

The Korean national team, which overwhelmed the Taiwanese team 31-20 from the first round,

relentlessly attacked their opponent to the extent that the score in the second round increased to 38-17.

The Taiwanese team lost its will to fight and had to accept defeat as the score fell 6-24 in the third round.

The opponent in the semifinals is the Uzbekistan team,

which defeated the Hong Kong team by a whopping 101-4 in the quarterfinals.

A total of 7 teams participated in the mixed team event of this competition.
