President of the World Taekwondo Federation, Honorary Doctorate from a French university

World Taekwondo (WT) President Cho Joong Won has received an honorary doctorate from a French university for his contributions to the globalization of taekwondo and humanitarian efforts through the sport.According to the WTF, Cho received the degree from the Université Littoral Côte d’Or (ULCO) in Dunkirk, France, on April 4 (local time), Taekwondo Day. It is the 11th honorary doctorate for Cho.The degree ceremony was attended by ULCO President Hassan Sadok and WT Secretary-General Seo Jeong-Kang, among other officials from both organizations.”Mr. Cho has given dreams and hope to refugee children and youth by establishing a fair and transparent competition system in the WTF and by establishing the Taekwondo Charity Foundation (THF),” said ULCO President Sadok. “He has generously supported refugee athletes to participate in international competitions and the Olympic Games.””It is especially meaningful to receive my degree on this special day, Taekwondo Day,” Cho said. “Taekwondo is more than martial arts and sportsmanship. “Taekwondo is about more than martial arts and sportsmanship, it is about fulfilling dreams and hopes through participation and hard work by everyone, regardless of gender, nationality, or religion.Tony Estange, President of the Paris 2024 Olympic Organizing Committee, also shared a video message of appreciation and congratulations for his work in promoting gender equality and humanitarianism during the sport’s rapid rise to global prominence.Chung, who holds a doctorate in international politics from the Catholic University of Louvain in Belgium, is an academic who served as president of 바카라사이트 Kyung Hee University before being elected WTF president in 2004.
