GS Caltex upsets Heungkuk Life before a packed house

Third-ranked GS Caltex put the brakes on second-ranked Heungkuk Life’s winning streak in the women’s professional volleyball league.

GS Caltex came from behind to defeat Heungkuk Life by a set score of 3-1 (26-28 25-21 27-25 25-21) in their Dodram 2023-2024 V-League Women’s Division home match at Jangchung Gymnasium 바카라사이트 in Seoul today (Nov. 17).

With their latest two-game winning streak, GS Caltex improved to 15-9 on the season and 43 points, closing the gap to seven points on league runner-up Heungkuk Life (18-6, 50 points).

Heungkuk Life ended its recent three-game winning streak and maintained a five-point lead over first-place Hyundai E&C (18-5, 55 points) with one more game played.

GS Caltex dropped the first set, but rallied from the second to take the third behind the performances of aces Gisele Silva and Kang So-hwi.

Silva led both teams with 37 points, while Kang So-hwi was solidly behind her with 21 points.

Despite the inclement weather, all 3,496 tickets were sold at Jangchung Gymnasium.

In the men’s match at Cheonan’s Yoo Yoo Soon Gymnasium, OK Financial Group defeated Hyundai Capital with a set score of 3-1 (25-27 25-21 28-26 25-19) to end the fourth round with a six-game sweep.

OK Financial Group, which improved to 14 wins, 10 losses and 39 points, leapfrogged Samsung Fire (14 wins, 9 losses and 38 points), which has lost four straight, into sole possession of third place.

Hyundai Capital lost its second straight game and is still sixth in the league with 15 points (9 wins, 32 losses).
