Hwang Sun-woo (20-Gangwon Provincial Office) has qualified for a third consecutive World Aquatics Championships medal.
Hwang was the first to touch the touchpad in the 200-meter freestyle final of the men’s general category at the 2024 Swimming (Management) National Team Trials at Gimcheon Indoor Pool in Gimcheon, Gyeongsangbuk-do, South Korea, on Sunday with a time of 1 minute, 45.68 seconds.
Second place went to Kim Woo-min (22-Gangwon Provincial Office) and third to Lee Ho-joon (22-Daegu Metropolitan City Office) with times of 1:46.06 and 1:46.07, respectively.
The event is a qualifier for the World Championships in Doha next February, with swimmers qualifying by beating the International Swimming Federation A time and placing in the top two in their respective events.
Hwang Sun-woo and Kim Woo-min just missed the FINA A record in the men’s 200-meter freestyle (1:47.06) to qualify for the World Championships.
Hwang, who won a silver medal in the 200-meter freestyle at the 2022 FINA World Championships in Budapest and a bronze medal in the 200-meter freestyle at this year’s Fukuoka Games, will try to win a third consecutive medal in Doha next February.
Lee Ho-joon, who reached the 200m freestyle final alongside Hwang at this year’s World Championships in Fukuoka, met the International Swimming Federation A time but missed out on qualification by 0.01 seconds to Kim Woo-min.
Kim, who did not compete in the 1,500 meters at this meet to focus on the 400 and 800 meters freestyle events, showed his talent in the shorter 200 meters and qualified for the World Championships.
She will swim the 800-meter freestyle relay at the World Championships, where she finished fourth.
Lee Yoo-yeon (23-Goyang City Hall), who finished fourth with a time of 1:48.04, beat out Yang Jae-hoon (25-Gangwon Provincial Office), who competed at the Fukuoka World Championships and Hangzhou Asian Games this year.
Yang finished fifth in 1:50.70. 사설토토
