“We’ve been getting it right since we started practicing set pieces”
“Has there ever been a better manager” on Klinsmann criticism
Kim Min-jae
(Bayern Munich) scored a goal against Vietnam on Sunday, his first A-match goal in nearly four years.
Kim Min-jae opened the scoring in the fifth minute of their A match against Vietnam at the Suwon World Cup Stadium on Sunday.
Lee Kang-in
Sent in a corner kick, and Kim Min-jae jumped up to head it in. The ball hit his shoulder instead of his
head and headed into the goal. The Dangbanrum goalkeeper was unable to stop the shot from close range.
The goal against Vietnam was Kim Min-jae’s first A-match goal in nearly four years.
His last goal came on December 15, 2019, against China in the second leg of the East Asian Football
Federation (EAFF) E-1 Championship. It was also a header. Kim Min-jae headed home a corner kick from Joo Sae-jong in the 13th minute.
After the game, Kim Min-jae met with reporters in the mixed zone and gave credit to Lee Kang-in for the
corner kick. “I’ve been getting better at it since we were practicing set pieces, and Lee Kang-in has a
great kick, so I just had to put my head on it and it went in,” he said.
The goal came from a tactically promising move. “I’m not really a goal-scoring defender,” he says. I do a
lot of things to try and get the second ball a little bit quicker or something like that rather than just
staying in the box,” he said. “This time, the set-piece tactics were a little bit tailored to me, so I was trying
to be responsible and score, and I think it paid off.”
“I think our players are very good in attack, so if we don’t make any mistakes in defense, we will win any game,” he said.
He said the physical demands are not too great. “I think it’s better to play a lot and be tired than not to
play at all,” he said. “I played a lot of games with Napoli, coming and going from the national team, and I
know how to manage it, so I think I’ll have to manage it a little better so I don’t get injured.”
“Honestly, I don’t know if I’ve had a good coach, I don’t think I’ve ever had a good coach,” he said. “The
players have to make the results and the coach has to play a role, but I think it’s important for the players to play well and turn things around.”
“It’s my first Korean derby,” he said, “and I want to do well and win.” He added that he is looking forward to
the match against Mainz, where Lee Jae-sung plays. 19가이드03
