LG’s Lim Chan-kyu stabs senior in the back and gets promised ‘Rolex if we win’

For the LG Twins, who have not won a Korean Series title in 29 years, the symbol of their longevity is a Rolex watch.

Former LG Group Chairman Koo Bon-moo, who passed away in 2018, had a love for the baseball team that was second to none among owners.

In 1998, Koo bought a Rolex watch for 80 million won, saying, “If we win the championship, give it to the MVP of the Korean Series,” which was the money at the time.

Four years later, in 2002, LG made it to the Korean Series, only to be knocked out by the Samsung Lions.

Rolex watches have been a hot topic of conversation among LG players as they attempt to win their first Korean Series title since 1994.

LG captain Oh Ji-hwan was asked at the KBO Korean Series media day at Jamsil Stadium in Seoul on 6 June, “Who do you think will get the Rolex watch?” He replied, “I just think I want it. If it’s in my power to give it, I’ll give it to me,” he said.

The Rolex watch, still in the safe, is worth a fortune.

It was worth close to $100 million 25 years ago, so you can expect its market value to have risen dramatically.

It also symbolises the championship of LG, one of the most popular teams in the KBO.

Im Chan-kyu had a big decision to make for Oh Ji-hwan.

“I would rather have a Rolex than the Korean Series MVP (because I want it so badly), but if I win the MVP, the Rolex will go to Ji-hwan,” he declared.

Instead, he got a promise from Ji-hwan, who was sitting next to him, “If we win (MVP or not), I’ll buy him a Rolex.”

For Im, that meant a Rolex if the team won.

Im Chan-kyu, who is known for his outspokenness at LG, opted for a one-year moratorium after becoming a free agent last year.

This year, his regular season performance helped LG clinch the top spot in the regular season, and he’s looking to cap it off with a Korean Series title.

“If you win the championship and become a free agent, you’ll have to look for me without me telling you,” he said in a jab at LG President Cha Myung-seok, with whom he has a close relationship.

Im also prepared a winning ceremony in advance.

After NC Dinos captain Yang Yang-ji, who won the 2020 Korean Series, made waves by lifting an item from NC Soft’s flagship game Lineage, the Executioner’s Sword, it was a task to prepare for the ceremony.

Referring to the ‘styler’, a representative product of LG’s core business of home appliances, Im Chan-gyu said, “I don’t think anything is impossible. I’ll do anything, so I hope you don’t worry.”

Hearing this, the LG team members also smiled broadly in unison, putting aside their tension a day before the first game of the Korean Series. 슬롯사이트
